Photo Challenge Week 3- Artistic: "Red"
Week 3's photo challenge is:
Artistic: "Red"- "Shoot whatever inspires you. Red should be the focus of the image. Don't be afraid to be creative"
I had an idea from the get go that I wanted the red to be minimalistic. I wanted the color to pop in a photo that was mainly greys or tans otherwise. I didn't know what exactly all of that meant so I waited till the end of the week to shoot it. Before the that week was the Broncos Super Bowl win and we had a ton of balloons strung around the house and Little Tommy was in heaven. That gave me the idea to grab a couple red balloons at the store and head out to the "RiNo" district. Right when we got there, LT really wasn't having it. He didn't know why this balloon was tied to his wrist, why Dad was running into the middle of the street to point this camera thing as him, why he couldn't come with Dad and why can't he couldn't stomp his feet in the puddle of oil in front of him.... which he did anyways and smelled like motor oil the rest of the day. It was becoming a bust. So we started walking back to the car and I saw the old loading docks. Thankfully his Mom wasn't there to tell me that leaving a toddler on the ledge of a loading dock was a bad idea. It turned out to be a great idea and I loved his expression as cars whizzed by and loved how the pop of color was exactly what I was trying to achieve. He did awesome, Dad got the shot he wanted and then we met up with some friends for an afternoon Brew at Ratio Beer Works. It was a good day to say the least.
The top photo was the photo picked for the challenge, but here are some of the rest from that photo shoot.
