Erica + Matt // Lionsgate Event Center

I don't know if other schools have this, but there is this weird TJ (my old high school) connection. People seem to keep in touch a little bit more than usual, help each other when needed or even stay good friends with the same people who you roamed the halls with. Erica was no exception. We stayed in touch over the years like most people would on social media and when we saw each other out on the town, we'd exchange hugs and well wishes. I was so happy when I got a message through Instagram that Erica was engaged and wanted to chat about photography!

Hayley + Chris // Grand Lake Lodge // Grand Lake, CO

I always love shooting at new venues and new places. As long as I've been in Colorado now, I'm ashamed to say, I had never been to Grand Lake. I quickly found out that I had been missing out. Thanks to Haley and Chris, I got the opportunity to come and enjoy another beautiful place in our Colorado backyard. Luckily, I shot this wedding with my good friend Jo, who had not only shot there plenty of times before, but had vacationed there for years growing up. She even knew of a private dock (that we were allowed) on the lake where we ended up shooting some of my favorite portraits of the day.

Katie + Taylor // Flying Horse Ranch Wedding

If you've read my blogs or been to my website, you'd know family means the world to me. In almost all of my blogs, I talk about how amazing it is to capture people's wedding days and how meaningful it is to me. When I get a chance to capture that day for a family member, it really does mean that much more. Taylor is my brother in law and now I get the honor of calling Katie my sister in law. Katie is truly someone you want in your life, so I consider myself one lucky guy to have her in my family.

Aly + Derek Wedding // Wedgewood at Boulder Creek

The day had finally arrived. With Boulder Creek rushing in the background, it was a beautiful day to get married and their venue (Wedgewood at Boulder Creek) looked stunning. Aly and Derek obviously put in a lot of thought into their details which stood out and really complimented the story of their wedding day.

Katie + Taylor Engagement // North Table Mountain

I love taking photos, as I'm sure you could have guessed. It means a lot to me to capture special moments in people's lives. Meeting new people is amazing, capturing my friend's lives is awesome but family is the best. I haven't gotten the opportunity to do that in awhile but last week I got to take my Brother in law, Taylor and his fiancé, Katie's engagement photos. We discussed for months where we were going to take the photos and with their wedding in less than a month, we needed to nail something down. We decided on a new place for me, North Table Mountain in Golden. A beautiful but challenging place for an engagement session to say the least.

Tiffany + Andy // The Lodge at Breckenridge

Tiffany and Andy are just fun people. I like fun people. We've become friends throughout this process but for whatever reason it kind of felt like we were old friends from the get go. Before I even did their engagement session, we had gone to a Nuggets game together, we go to the same gym, we even lived in the same neighborhood until they recently moved. We go way back, or at least it felt like it.

Rikki + Rian // Beachmere Inn // Ogunquit, Maine

I met Rikki and Rian this last fall. They live in Portland, OR (my hometown) and Rikki works with my wife at Comcast. They took a chance at having a photographer from a different state capture their engagement and wedding photos because they said they "wanted to support someone they knew personally." I liked them already. Being from Portland gave us a chance to have something in common right off the bat but before I flew out to PDX to capture their engagement session, I truly had no idea what kind of friendship laid ahead.

Kelsey + Pat // The Marina at Cherry Creek

Pat and I play ball together on our Redhawks baseball team and have become really great friends. A quick fun fact... Pat is the one who threw the ball that broke my face a couple weeks ago (I had to put that in here, sorry Pat). To clarify though, it was all my fault. Anyway, Pat and I feed off of each other's energy and there is a connection between the two of us that has created a great friendship over the years. Pat brings a high energy and passion to the game of baseball that I relate to and I'm so glad I get to call him a friend... he's a guy you want on your side, trust me.

Kyoko + Sam // Denver Engagement Photos

I met Sam officially freshman year of High School at TJ. We played baseball and football together and we have been great friends ever since. We even still play baseball together every week on the Redhawks. He plays 2nd base and I play 1st and it's been that way since High School, so to say we know each other well is an understatement. Sam has always been a compassionate person and I'm lucky to have a friend like him to help shape my life. His family was and is a very tight knit family that show each other love every single day. I always appreciated going over to his house and getting that same love from his parents and brother every time I walked in the door. Sam and I have been in the same group of friends for a long time now and I wouldn't have it any other way.

The Cuba Blog

I love to travel and I've thought about going to Cuba for a long time. The culture, music, sights, colonial buildings, the people... I could go on and on. The country did not disappoint. I got back a week ago and I can't wait for the next trip there. I don't know when but I will be going back one day. It was important to me to go now because the resorts and American money are literally laying in wait which will more than likely take away from the beautiful culture... in my opinion.

Ricki + Dev // Denver Engagement Photos // Denver Art Museum

I am lucky enough of a guy to take pictures, travel and meet new people. People like Ricki and Dev. Ricki works with my wife and I know I've gained two new friends through this process. I loved being around these two love birds. Their energy was simply infectious. It was super cold and windy but they had fun with the session and made it their own. They didn't let the cold get them down and we went all over the Denver Art Museum and Civic Center Park for their engagement photos.

Costa Rica Day 5 + 6 // Quepos // Blue Hole Dominical

So, I'm back in Denver but my mind is still in Costa Rica. So much sympathy from you all, I know. I'm writing this blog in particular a little late because I wanted Kristin and Rick's wedding blog to get the priority. That was the whole reason I was out there in the first place so I guess I should post some pictures of them too.
